Sorry, I meant to publish this in October, but kept procrastinating. Anyways, I plan to go to Thailand again next week, but wanted to post pictures from my first trip.

The first week of October is Golden Week, celebrating the official formation of the People’s Republic of China. Instead of staying around in Changchun I spent the week in beautiful Thailand. First stop was Hua Hin, a small beach town south of Bangkok. A3 hour minibus ride, packed with local Thais got me right to the beautiful Hilton. A corner suite on the 14th floor opened up to an amazing view of a few rain storms moving in south of me. For the next few days, I lounged around the pool and beach and actually relaxed during a vacation.

After a few days of doing nothing, I was getting anxious and had to get out and explore around. I ended up going to a local temple at the top of a hill (which you can see in the far distance of the first picture).

A girl going up the stairs to the temple had an aggressive little monkey steal her Pepsi right out of her hand. He seemed quite practiced at that.

A beautiful view with Buddhist bells.

On the way down, This monkey decided to take the fast route, sliding all the way down on his butt.

With my few days in paradise over, I headed back to Bangkok to do some touristy sight seeing. My hostel ended up being near the area where they sell all sorts of Buddhist statues and ornaments.

The whole day was a whirlwhind, so can’t caption all the photos. I was able to see Wat Pho, Wat Arun, The Grand Palace, and another smaller Wat near where my hostel was.

Smaller Wat, such a peaceful place to just sit and escape the city at the end of a long day.

The next day I headed to Ayutthaya. Here is home to the old capital of Siam. It was destroyed many centuries ago, so now all we have are the remains of the temples.

The easiest way to travel around the vast complex was to rent a scooter and ride to each of the major complexes

I don’t remember the name of all the temples, so they may be mixed up here.

When the city was sacked, the invaders decapitated the Buddhist statues.

Here you can see a bit of the outer layer that once covered all of the temples.

Finally I ended the day at Wat Phu Khao Thong

A view from the top

After a fun day in Ayutthaya, I had to get ready for the next day, where I spent the morning with a mate I met at my hostel, just seeing the city sites around Bangkok. We had a nice day, but then I had to catch a late flight back to China. Overall, an amazing vacation!
